Pilates
What is Pilates?
Pilates exercises were devised by Joseph
Pilates in the 1920's. Their aim is to activate the deep postural
muscles so that core stability may be established and thus good
posture maintained. When our joints are well aligned our joints
are positioned correctly and all tissue receives a good blood supply
for optimal health. Pilates will help with flexibility and develop
strength. It involves both mind and body

What is Pilates rehabilitation?
In most gyms, pure Pilates exercises are
taught, which may be too advanced for some individuals to perform
correctly.
Pilates rehabilitation is an integral part
of our physiotherapy treatments. You will initially work on a one
to one [1:1] basis with your physiotherapist.
Sessions may be shared on a 1:2 or 1:3
basis to reduce the cost. Matwork classes are also available at
lunch times and in the evenings, with a maximum of 8 clients.
At The Westminster Physiotherapy Centre
all the chartered physiotherapists can adapt the Pilates exercises
for the individual and to accommodate for certain injuries sustained.

We also offer Pilates exercise with Pilates Instructors.
This may be undertaken individually, in small groups or within a group matwork class.
